Have been using the MAC OS X Tiger for over a month. The performance so far has been totally satisfactory. The OS runs smoothly over my Apple iBook PowerPC G4.The OS is build upon the Rock Solid BSD Kernel, which was evolved from the Mach OS being developed at Carnegie Mellon University.
The stablility of the Operating System is excellent. The only place where the OS lags behind linux is multitasking.I`m not quite sure about its process scheduler, but I guess its time for the Apple guys to move from BSD to Linux kernel 2.6.Might be a drastic step but definitely a wise one.
The Aqua interface of MAC OS X is excellent, with superior quality graphics generated by the Quartz renderer.
Although I would prefer Linux over MAC OS,I would definitely recommend it over Windows.
Now it going to be fun to watch MAC OS X :Leopard and Windows Vista Compete with each
other on the Next Intel Toaster! That would be end of 2006,if we can trust Microsoft.
hmm intrestin but looking at the number of people who have been using windows in the past , i dont think the word compete even comes into picture , also windows is the platform preffered accross the business world and most of the softwares that are released are by default windows compatible so i dont think microsoft needs to woory atleast for some time.
Well, only time will tell who is going to win the OS war.But this depends on the way Apple markets it Intel Launch.
If Mac OS proves to be stable than windows and even less expensive, then Microsoft will have probllems.
With Linux maturing day-by-day, the situation seems interesting. Also there are rumours about GoogOS from Google.
Wait and Watch!
Happy with your 1 GB RAM ?
